On her 21st birthday, whilst still a Princess, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II gave a radio broadcast to the Commonwealth, in which she said: -
“I declare before you all that my whole life, whether it be long or short, shall be devoted to your service."
It was a declaration that would ring true throughout her life. In 2015, The Queen became the longest reigning monarch in British history.
The stamps reflect four of her visits to the Bailiwick, her first as Queen in 1957, again in 1978, for the Millenium in 2001 and her last visit in 2005 and the miniature sheet depicts one of her last public duties at Holyroodhouse as she attended the Ceremony of the Keys in Edinburgh, 27 June 2022 .
During her 70 years as sovereign, Queen Elizabeth II became recognised for her calm and reassuring presence. Many will remember Her Majesty’s strength, positivity and hope during difficult times, and her lasting commitment to duty and family.
