On January 30, 2023 the Ministry of Digital Development of the Kyrgyz Republic puts into circulation a 2022 Kyrgyz Express Post postage stamp: "International Year of Artisanal Fisheries and Aquaculture".
The United Nations General Assembly has proclaimed 2022 the International Year of Artisanal Fisheries and Aquaculture (IYAFA 2022). The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations is playing the leading role in holding the IYAFA 2022. The IYAFA 2022 is an opportunity to unleash the potential of small-scale fisheries and aquaculture, highlighting the benefits that strengthening these sectors can bring. It is also a recognition of the important role played by the millions of workers in small fishing industry enterprises. These people make a huge contribution to achieving Zero Hunger by providing healthy and nutritious food to billions of people.
The Kyrgyz Republic has unique natural and climatic conditions and rich water resources, which has led to a rapid development of aquaculture in recent years. Small-scale peasant farms, fish farmers, using rich natural resources, build ponds, pools and breed fish, thereby making an important contribution to ensuring food security. This helps in preserving the natural ichthyofaunal diversity in water bodies and contributes to the growth of fish products exports, as well as the creation of new workplaces.
KEP hopes that the issue of the special postage stamp will contribute to the achievement of the goals of the International Year of Artisanal Fisheries and Aquaculture.
For this stamp, KEP also issues a postcard, which is used to realize a maximum card.
