Postage Stamp Day - Old Postbox

Prince Nicola was given the idea to install Cetinje's first postbox and increase postal traffic by politician and publicist Jan Vaclik, who served as the Montenegrin consul in Shkodra. The advice made by Vaclik in a letter in 1863 was intended to emphasize the significance of international communication and a well-developed postal service as a prerequisite for general prosperity, without which a modern state could not even be conceived.The first postbox was red in colour, bearing the principality's coat of arms and the post office symbol.
