Christmas
In keeping with tradition, we end the philatelic year with our self-adhesive Christmas stamps. Four designs by Liechtenstein-based artist Jadwiga Falk-Ley are waiting to be sent out into the world bearing as many Christmas greetings as possible.
The motifs depict four Angels of Peace in different compositions, each assembled out of repeating elements in different sizes and arrangements. The collages “View from the Universe I” (face value: CHF 2.10), “View from the Universe II” (face value: CHF 0.90), “Angel of Peace in Gold” (face value: CHF 1.10) and “Angel of Peace in Silver” (face value: CHF 1.80) are featured in vibrant colours and intricate shapes.
Just as the paths to peace can be many and varied, so the artist also aims to leave room for individual interpretation of this theme. Jadwiga Falk-Ley, born in Bavaria in 1930, studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Berlin from 1949. She later moved to Spain where she devoted her attention to painting.
She has lived and worked in Liechtenstein since 1960. The world of colour and shapes, both drawn and painted collages form the central theme of her work
