Gysev Was Founded 150 Years Ago
Magyar Posta is marking the 150th anniversary of the
GYSEV Zrt. by issuing a commemorative stamp. The new issue designed by graphic artist Imre Benedek was produced by ANY Security Printing Company, and will be available at first day post offices and Filaposta inHungary and may also be ordered from Magyar Posta’s online store from 10 June 2022.
inaugural meeting of the public company was held in Budapest on 1 February 1875. The first section of the railway line opened between Győr and Sopron on 2 January 1876. The section between Sopron and Ebenfurth was opened for
service on 28 October 1879.
The stamp depicts the former locomotive of GYSEV with track number 113 already operating at the end of the 19th century, as well as a modern tractive vehicle, the Siemens Vectron. The background printing features a map fragment, while the larger towns and cities of the Győr–Ebenfurth railway line are displayed above the composition. The envelope dedicated to the occasion depicts one of the newest locomotives of GYSEV, Siemens Vectron with track number 471 002, as well as the logo of the jubilee, the latter also being an element of the stylized design of the special postmark.
