About 125 Years Since the Birth of Milo Milunovic

Milo Milunović, a Montenegrin painter, was born in 1897.

He was educated in Cetinje, Monza and Shkodër, and studied art in Florence and Paris. With Petar Lubarda, he founded the first art school in Cetinje. He was a full professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Belgrade.

He claimed that the motifs of his paintings were commonly associated with the Mediterranean climate. In addition to paintings, he created works in a wide range of artistic formats, including drawings, posters and book illustrations, postage stamp designs, stage sets and theatrical costumes, and wrote reviews and discussions on art.

His most famous works are: The Boka Landscape, Still Life with the Violin, Fish in the Net, Tragic Twilight, and many others.
