Chinese New Year – Year of the Tiger
About Chinese New Year – Year of the Tiger
A series of postage stamps dedicated to the Chinese New Year has been issued since 2011, and the postage stamp dedicated to the Year of the Tiger, which begins on 1 February this year, is the last in the series. There are a total of 12 animal signs in Chinese astrology, and the tiger is the third. According to one legend, the names of the animals date back to the time of the Buddha, who named each year after the animals that came to say goodbye to him. The tiger is considered the king of all animals in China and is a symbol of strength and courage.
