Fauna Otter - Lutra Lutra

The otter is a mammal, slender and agile, 57-70 cm in size, while its tail can reach a length of 35- 40 cm. The fur is waterproof, which allows the animal to maintain the body temperature well. It is mostly brown in color, with a brighter part around the neck. The tail is strong and used for floating. It has a thin skin between the fingers that helps it move through the water. The paws are strong, they contain pads and claws, suitable for digging and catching prey.The otter is a protected and endangered species in Europe, while in Montenegro it is protected by the Decision on placing certain plant and animal species under protection.
