On 25 September 2020, the Motor Guarantee Fund celebrates its 40th anniversary. This is a particularly important commemoration in light of the enormous impact that this public fund, managed by the Insurance and Pension Funds Supervisory Authority, has on our society and economy. The Fund’s principal mission is, and has always been, to protect the victims of road tra c accidents who would otherwise be unprotected, guaranteeing all necessary hospital care and recovery, and providing fair nancial compensation and future assistance to the severely disabled. For four decades, the Fund’s activities have been marked by discretion, independence, responsibility, rigour, transparency and, above all, by its promotion of the public interest through the improved functioning of the market for the bene t of consumers and operators as well as of the economy at large.
Since its creation, around 13 thousand people have been assisted in their recovery from bodily harm, and close to 50 thousand have been compensated for material damages resulting from tra c accidents.
The years to come will present new challenges with the increasingly rapid evolution of transport solutions and innovations, to which the Motor Guarantee Fund will respond by mapping out and characterising these new risks in ful lment of its mission to protect the victims of road tra c accidents.
The Motor Guarantee Fund assumes a role of enormous importance in society, contributing in the pursuit of its duties and mission to ensuring justice, equity and protection for the victims of road tra c accidents who may otherwise see their rights neglected.
