Tourism - The Old Town Ulcinj
The Old Town in Ulcinj is one of the oldest architectural and urban units on the Adriatic. For 25 centuries the city, which resembles a stranded ship, saw the changes of civilizations, each of which has left a trail visible even today. Built in the course of two and a half millennia in various economic, military and cultural conditions, the Old Town has acquired the character of an organic whole.
An interesting fact is that the famous Spanish writer Miguel de Cervantes was living in the Ulcinj Old Town as a prisoner and wrote the world famous novel Don Quixote after that. As the city was called Cita di Dolcinio, Cervantes invented his hero Don Quixote a mistress named Dulcinea. Montenegro Post Service, within the edition Tourism – Old Town Ulcinj, publishes a commemorative stamp and the First Day Cover. The author of the design is Zoran Popović, a graphic designer from Podgorica
