From 17th until 24th May, Banjaluka will be the host of one big sport event – WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP IN RAFTING.
In July 2007 in South Korea, International Rafting Federation (IRF) has passed unanimous decision to award organization of the World Championship in Rafting to the Rafting Club ''Kanjon'' and the City of Banjaluka as a host. The transitional flag of IRF has been received and shall stay in our Country until the end of the World Championship, and after that, it will be handed over to the organizer of the next world championship.
Competitions will be held at two beautiful rivers of Republic of Srpska – Vrbas and Tara, which will water-borne the best rafters of the world.
Discipline sprint, head to head and slalom will be ridden at Banjaluka's beauty – Vrbas, and dive at Tara, where funs of rafting from Foca will have the chance to prove themselves as the hosts.
Competitors from 35 countries will take part in this Championship with more than 55 teams in man and woman competition.
Conference of support to the World Championship in Rafting will be held in the organization of Delegation of European Committee in Bosnia and Herzegovina. This Conference is a result of the Project ''Vrbas Adventure Resort'' which is financed by European Union and the City of Banjaluka.
The aim of the Project is to increase the awareness about the tourist potentials of the Country and ask the support of all social structures in development of this extremely important economy branch.
