About 50 Years of Boxing Club Slavija

Boxing club Slaviјa was founded in 1961. Тhe first president of the club was Gojko Krstanović.

After he started working and established team, Slaviјa's first official match was in 1962 against the Sloboda from Tuzla. It was the first victory of a team of Banja Luka. Тhe most famous boxers who were then performed Dragan Batar (now honorary chairman BK Slaviјa), Miroslav Popovic and Mijo Andric.

Many good boxers paraded through Slavija. The most prominent names are Marijan Benes (professional and amateur champion of Europe) and Anton Josipovic (winner of Olympic gold in 1984 in Los Angeles). However, they are not the only ones worth mentioning. Many of them were state champions, champions of the Balkans, the Mediterranean.

Also, many famous coaches led Slavija. All of them were worth mentioning, but we will single out a few: Stevan Engelberh Pista, Predrag Krstic, then Tomo Palankin, Zelimir Kospic, Mirko Jokic, Mirko Savkovic…
Abedin Lika, Sandor Cristo and Nermin Sabanovic were decorated with gold. Zlatan Radulj and Milojko Pivljanin were awarded with silver and a bronze medal went to Bozidar Pejakovic. In the contests of the Republic of Srpska conquered the first place and provided the opportunity for young people to express their chance. Expectations exceeded. The club had a lot of novices started boxing and women's sections. It was praiseworthy to all workers in the Boxing Club. The formation of Premier League Slaviјa continued to dominate and keep the most successful boxing club a place in our country.
