Christmas Holiday has left a deep trace in literature, art, customs and Christmas carols. From year to year, Christmas customs initiate the best in people through personal religious experience of Christmas, as well as through family and social life. Humaness and kindness are reflected in Christmas customs. Christmas is a holiday of greetings, giving gifts and reconsiliation of the quarelling parties.
Christmas always renews our faith that it is not bad if a child was born in a small stable if he could rely on his parents love.
Christmas customs lead us, all over again, into the world of shepherds, wise men, angels, Christmas crib, the Star of Bethlehem, but they also remind us of scude life reality and uncertainty in which little Jesus, Mary and Joseph were.
Christmas customs are expression of human spirit, past and present, and it is during Christmas Holiday that religion, Christian orientation and readiness to continue Jesus' work among people today are best expressed.
In the light of Christmas, Christian tasks are to permanently and tirelessly, in private and in public, promote and live general human values, and especially Christian ethic values.
Christmas is not only a holiday; it is also the day of our test of solidarity and understanding. On December 4, the day of St. Barbara or St. Lucia we sow wheat to decorate our home and our table for Christmas. In the spirit of Christmas customs, on that very same day the Croatian Post Office Mostar is going to issue a commemorative postage stamp «Christmas of the Year 2003» as its contribution to greetings, presents giftings and reconciliation among people.
