Fig (Ficus carica) is a prized citrus fruit that symbolizes life, peace, prosperity and fertility. It is believed to originate from Egypt, from where it arrived to Crete and around 9th century BC in ancient Greece. Fig is the food of hermits and the holy tree of many legends. Fig was a highly respected by the ancient Greeks, and in the Rome it was considered sacred fruit in whose shadow rested the wolf that fed Romulus and Remus, and Adam and Eve made aprons from the fig leaves. Figs contain up to 80% water and it’s a fruit with the highest level of natural sugar. It is an exceptional sources of energy, stimulates brain function, concentration and memory.
Pomegranate, brier-rose (Punica granatum) is a spiny shrub that thrives in costal areas with warmer climate. The plant has vertical and extend branches and the habitat is sunny with high temperature. It requires water-omission soil because the fig doesn’t like plenty of moisture. It blooms white, yellow and red flowers from June to August. The large round fruit, a leather outside, and inside filled with delicious seeds, occurs in late autumn.
