Easter
On the feast of Easter, believers celebrate the biggest and the most important Christian holiday – resurrection of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. Christians believe that the God raised Jesus, who was tortured and crucified on the cross, on the third day and made Him the Lord of all creation. For believers, the Jesus’ resurrection is the beginning of the new world and the pledge that will be relieved in the fullness after Christ reveal himself to the world at the end of time.
The Easter mystery consists of the fact that the Jesus rose from the dead on the third day. The One who was crucified and who showed immense love for man has risen and is alive. The feast of Easter calls believers on Easter joy and sends message that the risen Christ conquered death and brought faith and hope. All of this has important consequences for the religious life because Christians are called to be participants in the overall event of Christ’s death and resurrection. Easter candle signifies the risen Christ, decorated with the letters alpha and omega because Christ is the beginning and the end of all things. Christians celebrate Easter by participating in the Eucharistic celebrations in churches; continue to celebrate in their homes with old folk and modern Easter customs.
