Worshippers are eagerly awaiting Christmas Holidays because today Christmas isn’t only religious experience, but it’s a Holiday of gathering, intimacy, presentation and relationship renovating among people. Every Christmas family is gathered around the table glorifying the birth of a little Jesus. Just like the Holy family had passed a long journey to Bethlehem in that way many people are passing long journeys so that they could spend their Christmas Holidays with their closest family. Since forever Christmas customs arouse warmth in people, who are through Christmas and Christmas customs of congratulations and presentations renovating relationships with family and friends.
Universal message that God was born in stable, far away from richness and warmth of royal and rich homes, reminds that true values are love, family and care for closest ones. Shepherds, wise men, angels, Christmas creche and comet have become universal symbols nowadays. Christmas customs are heritage of millennium apprehension of those symbols and they are image of sent message on one night to mankind from the little stable in Bethlehem. Those symbols alert that Christmas is both the day of solidarity and comprehension. On the St. Barbara Day or St. Lucia, on 4th December, the wheat is sowed for Christmas decoration of houses and tables.
At the same day Croatian post Mostar, in Christmas customs spirit, is going to issue commemorative postage stamp “Christmas 2004.” contributing to the symbolic transmission of Christmas messages among people.
