10th Mediterranean Film Festival
The first Mediterranean Film Festival was held in Široki Brijeg from 5 till 7 September 2000. under the name Croatian film and video, and during the past ten years has grown into the biggest international documentary film festival in the region. Imagined as revue of unconventional film, in the beginning, experimental film of Croatian authors, retrospective of documentaries and awarded Feature film from the region have been shown. The need for the program guiding has opened the door for documentary film with the emphasis on the Mediterranean.
The right for participation, which is organized by Film Association Kino video club Amater, have the productions and films coming from 22 Mediterranean countries. Competitive program is combination of films from which the culture, religion and social diversity of Mediterranean can be seen, that is, three continents that are included. Along with the main program, an interesting additional program such as retrospective of known authors, controversial documentaries and awarded films from the festival in the region are shown. The main prize on the Festival is Grand Prix, and Special Jury Prize as well as Audience prize is awarded. Each awarded author, besides financial prize, gets sculpture “Crystal Projector”.
