Battle cruiser Sankt Georg is considered to be the symbol of the sailors’ mutiny in Boka, which took place on 1 February 1918. During the mutiny, around six thousand sailors of the Austro-Hungarian war fleet took the command into their own hands and hoisted red flags on about 40 ships in Boka Kotorska. The sailors mutinied against the invading war that Germany and Austria-Hungary waged against the Slavs, rebelling against the conditions of life on warships. Regardless of the fact that the Mutiny was suppressed by shooting four and pressing charges against 368 sailors, the indisputable fact that the mutiny had a great echo in the world still remains. Within the edition Maritime affairs “Battle cruiser Sankt Georg”, the Post of Montenegro is publishing a commemorative postage stamp and First Day Cover. The author of the design is Zoran Popović, a graphic designer from Podgorica.
