Nature Protection - Pines - Black Poda
About Nature Protection - Pines - Black Poda
The Tara Canyon is predominantly covered with specific coniferous trees, and a special place among those belongs to the black pine. The most interesting forms of the black pine are the ones with roots clinging on the rock cliffs hanging over the abyss below. The most famous site where the black pines form a primeval forest is located in the canyon, at a place called Crna Poda. Crna Poda was designated as a strict nature reserve. Some of the pines at the site are up to 50 meters tall and even 400 years old. The Montenegro Post is publishing a commemorative postage stamp and a First Day envelope within the edition “Environment Protection”. The author of the conceptual design is Zoran Popović, a graphic designer from Podgorica.
