Archeological Treasure - Helmet of the Illyrian Warrior from Vranjevo Selo

The archeological site Vranjevo selo is located in the area of the municipality of Neum and is the national monument of Bosnia and Herzegovina with the remains of the Roman settlement and medieval necropolis of stele.At the site of Vidića guvno the remains were found of the grave of the Bronze Age containing rich metal and ceramic finds. It is probably the prince's grave of the Illyrian warrior in full battle kit. The warrior's grave which, among other contained also parts of the two Graeco-Illyrian helmets can be put into 4th century before J.C. and attributed ethnically to the Illyrian tribe of Ardijevci. Only two similar Illyrian helmets were found on the area of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the last one in 1904.At present, Illyrian-Greek helmets are located in the Museum and gallery of town of Neum which has been opened on 25. august 2007. Croatian post Ltd Mostar has issued a regular postage stamp and first day cover.
