Founded on a British idea, scouting started spreading at the beginning of the 20th century, including not just Europe but the other continents too. In 1914, only one year after the appearance of the first group of Romanian scouts in 1913, due to their creative activity that attracted many youngsters, the Association of the Romanian Scouts was born. In 1922, it became a founding member of the World Scouts Organization. Until 1938, the year of its abolishment, the organization was present whenever it was needed.
Reborn in 1990, the National Organization Romanian Scouts became rapidly well-known both in the country and broad, so that in 1993, the year of its re-acceptance in the World Scouts Organization, it involved over 5,000 members.
1874, the year of the foundation of the Romanian Red Cross Society and its adhesion to the Principles of the International Movement of the Red Cross and Red Half Moon: Humanity, Impartiality, Neutrality, Independence, Volunteering, Unity and Universality. In 1876, it was recognized by the International Red Cross Committee. During its over 125 years of existence, the Romanian Red Cross was the first to take action in crisis and disaster situation. Through its programs, it contributed to soothing and preventing suffering in all forms, by protecting health and life.
The Lions Clubs Association was founded in Chicago, in 1917, under the initiative of the business man Melvin Jones. Based on the idea to give people the opportunity to give back to the community they were part of, the Lions Clubs Association attracted on their side, during a period of 50 years, people from all continents, becoming an International Association. Counting today over 1.5 million members in over 46,000 Clubs from 190 countries, Association representatives are on duty where disasters take place. At the same time, they are present in schools, build parks and treatment resorts. “We serve!” is the motto under which presence of the Lions Clubs is known all over the world.
