Fragments from Trajan’s Column (II)
About Fragments from Trajan’s Column (II)
Romfilatelia, the specialized company in issuing and trading philatelic items in Romania, releases the second part of the definitive postage stamp issue which reproduces images from Trajan’s Column.
The postage stamp of ROL 21,000 illustrates the Emperor Trajan as the great priest. He officiates the sacred ritual of the army’s purification. Moreover, the image shows a Dacian messenger, from the Boer people, who presents to the emperor a message written on a mushroom.
The stamp of ROL 31,000 depicts the conquest of Dacian citadels after the Battle of Tapae and the crossing of a mountain river by the Roman armies.
The stamp of ROL 145,000 displays the building of a Roman stone camp by the Roman legions in the Dacian Banat.
